This documentary is part of my project "Cut Off: a Dialogue of People, Industry, and the Environment". It serves as a living and moving view into what life on Louisiana's coast is. The project consisted of three large (4' x 8' and two 5' x 8') mixed media paintings, over 100 photographs, a gallery installation with items from my hometown, and this film. It was made over the course of two years ...

Sorry for the inactivity, but now that school is out, I should be able to make more videos. I got these trees from my neighbor who hasn't been able to take care of all of their trees. I've decided to re-pot them to try and gain some size. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!

This lil guy was severely pot bound when i bought it. The soil was so full of roots that it dried up much quicker than all my other trees. It'll take a while, but it should recover.

Amazing video
Ive given up wiring yaupon holly branches that are more than a few months old.
Idk how I never saw this. But it’s absolutely incredible.
This is very noice
what
Do u realize how many times you say "um"🤔
Yes its hard for me to listen to too
Cajun French & Louisiana Creole French need to be revived! The schools in Louisiana should require French to be taught from preschool to 12th grade and even in college! It’s such a deep part of the heritage of such a fascinating State!
I loved this video btw. My paternal ancestors came down from Quebec. Which is cool. Louisiana French needs to be mandatory in the state.
A lot of people from Quebec settled in Louisiana also. The idea that louisianas French was just Cajun from Acadia isn’t entirely correct. Louisiana had French speaking settlers from France Belgium Switzerland Quebec Maine New Hampshire Haiti and many other places. French is such an easy language though. It flows easily.
Did the juniper survive??
lol and it sure looks like a 6$ "bonsai"
Good God man, leave something for the tree!
THEY ARE DEAD…..
Your video photographs are just natural fresh real sensitive,,,,, and that’s the real meaning of art,,, more please
Oh man, I thought Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish were the only places in Louisiana where we pronounce the French J like an H! This is how my grandparents in Cut Off spoke, and it’s often how I speak French. Where were his parents from? I heard him say he lives in Golden Meadow now. Maybe that’s where he picked up that way of speaking.
"I think the main point right now is just getting this tree to live" lol! 😃
Restez forts!
Hello. I just bought a ginko tree. I want to have it in the pot in the living room all year round. will it lose its leaves as if it were planted outside?
I see this was 8 months ago, but it should be kept outside all year. Deciduous trees need to have a dormant period, and can't get that inside becuase the temperature is always consistent. If you want an indoor tree, look for low light, "evergreen" trees, such as ficus, or dragon palm, ect. I tried to keep a maple inside when I lived in an apartment and even left the window open, it still didnt lose it's leaves, and I had to give it to my mom to keep outside before it died.
I for one loved you tossing your stuff on the table, I laughed out loud, Im used to seeing the yamestey type people doing these videos, so for me it was refreshing, thanks
Good video ... i like my friend
I liked for the cat.. now im watching the rest of the video.
Awesome.. sounds likes Breaux Bridge french.. understood it all..
Lovely. Thank you.
Well done! Sometimes its easier to get a main branch to lean by drilling a hols in the side of the pot then running your wire through and around the branch then twisting it closed at the pot end. That way over time the wire can be tightened thus making it shorter in order to gradually pull the branch into the desired spot over time. Like braces make A tooth move.
what were your stats? gpa? act? sat? i live in new orleans!!!
Bon jour Ville Platte . ❤️
I miss hearing my language spoken .
my criteria is exactly the same. i am finding out that i really want to go to lewis and clark. do you know if there’s anything i can do to increase my chances of getting in and getting good financial aid?
I’m ADHD positive, borderline crackhead. Do y’all think they’d let me live off campus as a freshman or will they be stubborn about the sanctity of “shared living”?
Lewis and Clark oughta get a men’s soccer team smh
why'd you transfer from l&c?
very nice! Just curious, are you still happy with the loft bed? Or would you of chose the lower one. My daughter is trying to decide.
Thank you for this.
There’s so little of this language anywhere on the internet.
This is an awesome video and you might think because your grandfather was born in 1948 that he is old but he is actually still pretty young. It's amazing too that he still speaks French and that his family taught him the language. I hope that you speak French and that you speak with him. It's seems that his contemporaries were the ones that missed out on learning to speak French. I started really learning French 30 years ago and even then, people were saying that the French in Louisiana was dying but here we are in 2021, and its still surviving. When I hear about the immersion classes in the state and hear young folks speaking French, I have a lot of hope. A lot of Cajun words and expressions are still being used by the next generation and there is a will to keep the language alive. I speak French everyday and live in New England. One positive thing about this pandemic is that people are communicating a lot more often via Zoom so nearly everyday, I speak French on Meet-up with folks and a lot from Louisiana. Great people they are and Ive met a lot of French speaking friends. I cant wait to be able to visit Louisiana again and speak French!!!!
Great update!
Merci pour cette vidéo. Moi je viens d’Algiers aussitte !
damn, he was going at the bigger one like a barber with a line out the door
Make an update video
i would like to get a hole of that tree
I don't think we can call this bonsai
Nice work on those two trees. Looking forward to seeing if that conifer survives, given all the dead material.
great video encouraging people to go out and get creative and keep bonsai accessible to everyone. is there an update video on these three trees?
Very nice. Nice explanation and future planning. Thank you.
